Simona De Tullio created The San Nicola International Dance Competition in 2010, since then she has directed the event annually, supported by all the local authorities due to its prestigious nature and artistic value.
“Give a chance”, is the goal of the competition, helping young talented dancers in their career, offering valuable scholarships with professional companies, academies and festivals and connecting them with international choreographers and directors.
Each year, The San Nicola International Dance Competition hosts international partners. They are offered the opportunity to perform during the final to showcase the work that they are currently involved in.
Exhibitions, masterclasses, conferences and lectures all combine to form the event, enriching the cultural life of the city of Bari, offering new relationships between dance and other artistic media, and involving the audience in a variety of different ways. Past editions include – “Crossing Dance” and “Linguaggi Metropolitan” conferences by Bari University and supported by Teatro Pubblico Pugliese, masterclasses by the High School of Dance L. Da Vinci in Bisceglie(Ba), the exhibition “Albania, Nostalgiche Danze”, workshops about the language of the body, by the high school of the Bari and the international exhibition “Pas du Monde” by photographer Clarissa Lapolla.
