The International Dance Competition will take place on 17-18-19 December 2023 under the artistic direction of Simona De Tullio with exclusive international scholarships: USA, France, Italy, etc.

The Competition is categorised by the sections Ballet and Modern-contemporary dance and may participate:

SOLO youth dancers of either genders, between 8 and 11 years for the category pupils (NO POINTS), between 12 and 14 years for the category children, over 15 years for the category seniors;

GROUPS dancers between 9 and 13 years for the category children, over 14 years for the category seniors,  minimum number of participants per group n. 3 dancers

DUETS dancers between 9 and 13 years for the category children, over 14 years for the category seniors

Art. 1

The International Dance Competition is categorised by two main sections:

Ballet and Modern-contemporary dance

The minimum and the maximum age shall be turned by 08/12/2023

Art. 2

The attached application for admission shall be fulfilled in every single part and sent to:

Furthermore, the following documents shall be attached:
For solo:

• Medical fitness certificate or self-certification from the dance studio;
• One passport-size photo;
• A copy of the own passport for those coming from outside the European Union;
• Bank transfer after contacting the reception of Breathing Art Company

For groups:

• Statement attesting the possession of the medical certificate of each member of the group submitted
• Bank transfer after contacting the reception of Breathing Art Company
• Participation fee: Euro 160,00 for groups up to 8 dancers, an extra of Euro 15,00 for each additional dancer.

For duets:

• Statement attesting the possession of the medical certificate of each member of duets
• Bank transfer after contacting the reception of Breathing Art Company
• Participation fee: Euro 100,00 per pair

IT IS MANDATORY FOR ALL CATEGORIES TO SEND MUSICAL FILES VIA MAIL

The deadline for the submission of applications expires imperatively on 08 December 2023.

Solo may participate in both soilists sections with an additional application fee for the second section of Euro 40,00. In case a group wants to submit a second choreography with the same dancers, it shall pay an overall fee of Euro 100,00.

Art. 3

The Competition organization will not consider applications without the documents listed in the art.2 above, nor those that won’t be sent within the expiry day. The date of the postmark will be used in this regard.

Art. 4

The competition will take place in Bari on 17-18-19 December 2023 according to the following outline schedule:

17-18 December 2023: Selection process open to the audience  (Teatro Showville)

Tuesday 19 December 2023: International Dance Gala “San Nicola” with awarding of scholarships and joined by the dancers selected in the previous selection processes (Teatro Piccinni)

Final schedules may be worked out by the application deadline. The conduct of the selections, venue and times, may be subjected to changes depending on the number of registrations. Competitors shall compulsorily show up at least thirty minutes before the start of the different stages.

Art. 5

The Jury is composed of the heads of International Companies and Academies involved in the award together with cultural and institutional personalities of the territory. In case of delay due to force majeure by one of the members of the Jury, it is noticed that the usual activity of the Jury will be carried out regularly with the present members.

Art. 6

All candidates SOLO and DUETS shall perform a piece that does not exceed 3 minutes music tracks.
GROUPS shall perform a piece that does not exceed 4 minutes music tracks.

The allowed Modern dance styles are as follow:
Modern, Contemporary, Jazz.

Finals

Only candidates who pass the selection process on one of the two dates (17 or 18 December 2023) are eligible for the finals.

Video selections are allowed only in case of justified impediments to the selection days.

Art. 7

Music tracks exceeding established duration may be cause for elimination from the competition.

Art.8

MUSIC

Music tracks shall be sent via mail as MP3 (NO WMA OR OTHER) to segreteria@premiosannicola.info or by using wetransfer.com

Files shall be renamed as follow:

• For SOLO: NAME_SURNAME.mp3
  · For GROUPS: NAME OF THE DANCE STUDIO_CATEGORY.mp3
  · For DUETS: NAME OF THE DANCE STUDIO_DUETS_CATEGORY.mp3

In theater, participants shall still provide music on CD on the back of which their name or the name of the dance studio is written.

Recordings deemed unprofessional in listening may be rejected by the Jury and may be cause for elimination from the competition.

Art. 09 Awards*

Scheduled awards are composed as follow:

SOLO

All categories compete for abroad scholarships which will be assigned at the sole discretion of the Jury.

First, second and third solo places

Open card, 2 courses or single course for workshops of event partners, dance clothing awards.

Groups

Discount vouchers for all group members to use for the summer stage of event partners and a discount voucher for dance clothing for dance studios, plaques and cups.

The Jury with unquestionable judgment and careful evaluation of merit on the technical, interpretative and aptitude skills demonstrated by the competitors, determines the winners, or the non-attribution of one or more prizes, of the “San Nicola” International Dance Competition, as well as the possible assignment of additional merit scholarships.

SCHOLARSHIPS MUST BE CONFIRMED BY THE WINNERS 45 DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT, IF NO NOTICE OF PARTICIPATION IS RECEIVED THE ARTISTIC DIRECTION WILL AWARD THE SCHOLARSHIP TO THE CANDIDATES IN SUCCESSION OF RANKING.

*Scholarships cover only and exclusively the attendance of dance classes. Travel, board and lodging expenses are the responsibility of the winner, unless other directives by the organisation.

Art. 10

Candidates or those acting on their behalf authorize the organization expressly and immediately (unless their dissent expressly in writing) to freely use their image, as well as their personal data, for promotional, informative and statistical purposes, pursuant to art. 13, d. lgs 196/2003 and accept these regulations in every article and content. They also release the organization from liability in case of damage/theft to properties and people, independently providing their own insurance coverage.

NOTES

It is not allowed for any music track of each category to put on stage scenes, props and various objects (unless they take up a lot of space), nor to use makeup or body lotions, nor to use liquid substances, powder or similar, which could damage the Dance mat and therefore difficulties in the continuation of the competition in progress. The judgment of the Jury may also report individual elements among the non-winners worthy of special consideration in order to allow them to receive other awards or to use scholarships.

THE ARTISTIC DIRECTION WILL FORWARD EVALUATION FORMS OF THE COMPETITION AFTER THE EVENT ONLY UPON DIRECT REQUEST OF THE DANCE STUDIO FROM 7 JANUARY 2024.
